Presenter:Ruth Bogan
Biographical Sketch: Ruth Bogan is Head of Database and Catalog Portal Management at the Rutgers University Libraries. She received her Master of Arts in Library Science from Rosary College (now Dominican University) in Chicago, Illinois. Before Rutgers, Ruth held a variety of positions in public libraries in the Chicago area. Over the course of her career she has been cataloger, technical services department head, and authorities librarian. At Rutgers, Ruth finds herself deeply involved in the work of modeling and creating a metadata infrastructure for the digital library. Her current work centers on emerging metadata standards with particular emphasis on METS, MODS, and Dublin Core. Ruth currently serves as chair of the New Jersey Digital Highway Metadata Work Group. Her other research interests include the role of controlled subject vocabularies in the networked environment.
