The Data Center (room 404 in the Alexander Library Scholarly Communication Center) is
equipped with twelve general purpose workstations running Windows XP Professional. The
following software and services are available:

- GIS software - ArcView (v3.2) and ArcGis (9.x)
- Web software - Netscape browser, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox
- Utilities - MS Office 2000, WinZip, WS-FTP
- Public space available for temporary storage of data on workstations

Policies
Saving Files: Since the Data Center is a public laboratory, we cannot guarantee the
safety of your files. The following steps and precautions should be taken:
- User can store files on the local a:\ drive or the zip drive e:\.
Alternatively the network storage are x:\temp
can be used. User files should be stored in a folder
with the user's initials. It is recommended that important data that is saved on
the network drive should also be backed up by the user on a diskette, or ftp-ed to their
personal account.
- When the semester is over, all user files will be deleted.

Hours
For the Fall and Spring semesters, the Data Center will be open:

Monday thru Thursday: from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Friday from 9a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday closed
-
Sunday from 1p.m. to 6 p.m.
