Bel Jour, the Business and Economics Locator for Journals at Rutgers, was developed using the SCC’s Cold Fusion platform in 2000 as a subject-based portal to over 1000 journals. The database provided quick access to information about electronic and print journal holdings that at the time could only be gathered by searching multiple sources. Now, other means of locating journal articles, such as Link Source and Journals A-to-Z, have improved to the point that a database like Bel Jour adds less unique value.
Actively maintained until 2002, the database has been deactived and stored in an offline archive.
A more complete description of the project was published in “Bel Jour: A discipline-specific portal to periodicals”, Information Technology and Libraries, vol. 21, no. 2, 2002, pp. 81-86, by Ryan Womack. For further information about Bel Jour, contact Ryan Womack, Business and Economics Librarian.
Those searching for business and economics journals can consult IRIS or the Journals A-to-Z list for Rutgers holdings. For links to journals beyond the world of Rutgers, try Business Electronic Journals, EconLit's link list or RFE's scholarly communication page.
